Color Me Happy !


Here is the Baby Sweater for My Daughters Friend who is having a Baby..
April requested there colors... So this is what I came up with... :)

I did it in the stripe sequence explained in Mag Knits..http://www.magknits.com/chilly04/patterns/fib.htm
I had to shorten my numbers because I did not want the stripes any wider.. So I did 2- 2- 4..
I think it workd out very well.. This way the colors " shift" and each one gets a wide and a narrow stripe... The colors are Red.. Black .. Gold and Green.. I used wool ease worsted weight...
Its a very " Happy Sweater".... Right !

Periwinkle Sweater

Finished the Periwinkle sweater... :)

I am very satisfied with the yarn.. It is Caron Wintuck and it knitted up very nicely .. It feels nice and cozy on and I love the color!
I did a few changes to the pattern along the way!
First I made it about one inch shorter because it is a Ladies Small but it is for a ten Year Old !!! ( My Grandaughter Allie )
Then I made a buttonband instead of a zipper.. Just because that is ny preference!!!.. Actually I did not want to have to sew in a zipper .. LOL and besides.. Where would I find a Periwinkle Zipper anyway!!!
Then instead of binding off in the rib pattern on the collar.. I did a crochet bind off and did a three stitch crochet over the drop stitch rib to give the collar more of a " swing" to it..
I liked this pattern and I will no doubt do another one......
Below is a close up of the beads that I knitted in .. I put them in all the places where there are Ribs...

" Hummmmmm??? That would look nice on a Hat trim and booties " said April !!!

So This is what I came up with :)

I used Baby Soft yarn and a #3-4 needle...

Here is The Progress on Allies sweater... It is working out very nicely so far!
I am really liking the pattern and the yarn...You can't see the beads in the photo but they are in the Ribbing!

I just made This Sweater for Paige... My almost Two and 1/2 Year old Grandaughter.......
The Pattern is from one of The Bouton d' Or Books that I have...
I used some Bernart Chunky Yarn for the Cream Part and then I had some left over yarn from The " Snug As a Bug " Sweater so I used that for the Trims...
The Whole Sweater is Really " Soft n Cozy"
Paige will Love it :)
When she wears my Knitted or sewn clothes.. She always tells people
" Grandma Made it "....LOL
I guess she is one of my Biggest " Fans" :)

Sweater


I just started this Sweater for My Grandaughter...
It is from Interweave Knits Fall 2005...................
Her favorite color is Periwinkle so that is what I chose... I decided to "Jazz" it up a bit and knitted some beads into the Rib.. I will be knitting beads into all the Ribs because they are nice wide 4 inch Ribs...
The yarn ????? You ask !!!!!............ Oh .. Thats just Caron...........But it is working up real nice !!!

So I joined the Secret Sister Group and it seems that I am so lucky that I have Two Secret Sisters :)

The Magazine has some great Patterns in it ...
There is a sachet and some Lavander ...
And Ohhhhhhhhhh Wow... A beautiful skein of Bamboo... Now I am searching patterns to see what I can make .. It has 250 yards so I am thinking about a scarf..
She really did reasearch me .. Right down to My Lorna Doones and Couscous!! Now if I can get My Daughter to make me her Couscous Salad..... Yummy!!!!

The Beginning.................

For those of you who have never made a Beribboned Sweater...
This is what it looks like when you have completed the One Piece .....
Then you Fold it and Flip it ........ sew up the shoulders and the two little underarms
and You Have an Adorable Little Sweater !!!

There is the Origional Beribboned Sweater which I have already made and is just Adorable...
Then Yvette made the Garter Stitch version which is also Adorable..
AND now I have made a Stockinette and Garter Version !!!
This is such a cute sweater which ever way you make it.
It is all done on one circular needle and there is very little sewing to do :) Which is a BIG Plus for me ..
This one is done in Bernarts Cotton .. I have had this yarn for some time now and when I origionally bought it I told my Friend " Diana" that I was going to put Scotty Buttons on a sweater made with this yarn.......... Oh.. "The Scotty With The Dotty" Mary....our other shopping buddy said ... LOL.. Well.. It took me some time to get to it but here is ..."My Scotty With The Dotty Sweater "!!!

Hooray !!!! I'm heading down the Slopes !!!! I can almost see the finish line !!!!

Time to have a seaming party !!!! Get those sleeves on and finish up with the Buttonbands and neck band!!!!
Can't wait to put that big Gold Metal around my neck!!! Or Silver...

Day 6

I did not do much knitting today ... This darn Broncitis is really slowing me down..
I went to my Knit Group today and then to JoAnns and found the perfect buttons for my Sweater... I have high hopes of finishing it soon so I knew that I had better get some buttons so I can Complete my Task !!!!!
The finish line is getting closer.. I can see the gold or the bronze ... Ya think ???

Day 5

Hello Fellow Olympians!!!!

Today is day 5 and I have not done any knitting yet... I will do some this evening while watching a movie....
I have joined the fronts and back together with my 3 needle bind off.. That is my favorite shoulder seam...
The first sleeve has been started which I will finish tonight :)

Then I have the other sleeve and the neck and front bands to do... Yippee !!!!

Day 4

Here we are on Day 4 and I am almost done with the Body.. Yahooooooooooo
Looks Like I am Going for The Gold .or at least The Bronze... * Grin*

Usually when I get to the start of the sleeves I begin to get very bored with the project and go to something else for a while... hummmmmmmm
This time I think I better " keep up the challenge" and just " Go For It"..................

Day 3....
Today is Day 3 and this is what I have achieved in The Olympics so far :)

I have finished the back of My Cardi and did the rib for the left Front....
I do like how soft this yarn is....

Here is The yarn that I have for My Olympian Sweater....
I have 9 skeins of this Lovely Sirdar Cotton Yarn which I have been saving " hoarding" for a few years... I FINALLY decided WHAT to make with it.....

After several attempts at starting two other sweater choices last night.. I decided on the Plain Classic cardi for Myself... Yippee... I am knitting something for me.... :)
As you can see I did not get very far yet..
First ... I did not realize that yesterday was the 10th until last night ... " I never seem to know what day it is " except for Sunday.. when I go to Church :)
Well Anyway.. I'll have to knit faster so I can catch up...

Olympic Project

GOOD MORNING ......... This is what I wake up to in the morning... Isn't it Lovely??

This morning I went next door to a Garage Sale and got two nice bags of yarn.. along with a knitting bag and alot of needles and a How To Knit Book........... " There is always something to learn, Right?

For those of you who are not familiar with Our Olympics....
When they light the Flame tomorrow ... all the Knitters will cast on and begin a project...
We are to knit.. knit.. knit........ for the length of the Olympics... February 10th to the 26th..
We are to FINISH the Project which we have choosen to make for this Challenge..

It is the evening before and I still do not know which pattern to choose !!!
Oh.. The Pressure is getting me already...LOL

I KNOW that I am going to make a cardigan for " ME"... but I can not decide between three designs.... I do know what Yarn I am using... It is a Sirdar Aran... very nice and soft..
PERFECT for ME !!! :)

Well.. Maybe while I sleep it will come to me in a vision and tomorrow I will have my sweater started !!!!

This is My " Snug As A Bug In A Rug" Sweater :)
While I was knitting this all I kept thinking of was Snug as a Bug in a Rug.. The yarn looked so much like a rug...
But when I finished it... I REALLY loved it.. Its so SOFT and Snuggly !!!!
Its amazing what a few skeins of puffy soft yarn can turn into..... :)

Asian Inspired Sweater


This is A Sweater Set that I just finished for a Special Little Baby Girl who is coming to us from China :)
My Daughter ..April.. is anxiously waiting for the adoption of a Baby ...
She has completed all the extensive paper work, tests, interviews, etc.... and is now waiting
for her Little Baby Girl....
As you can guess we are all very excited !!!

Honering the tradition of China this set is knit in red,symbolizing Happiness and Good Fortune....
The Chinese Symbols "Xi" ( JOY) and "Shou" (Longevity) are knit into the hem, reflecting a Double Blessing...

Here is the beginning of The Baby Dress that I started... This is My " Diana" Dress...
My Knitting Buddy in New York gave me this pattern several times.... I kept misplacing it as I usually do with things :) She made several of them and I just adore these Little Dresses !

This is a pretty Buttercup Color Fine Cotton and it looks really pretty " in Person"....

Tomorrow I will post photos of the Two Boys Sets that I made.... I would have had them finished if I did not get struck with "startitus" again.... Yea.. I know.. I said I was going to FINISH things as I went along this year but I just can't help these sudden urges to start someting new... Its OK, right? I will try to limit myself to just a " FEW" at a time tho.... ha !!
Its the darn yarn next to my Bed... It just keeps calling me in the night and then I have visions of things being made in my dreams !!! and I just HAVE to try them out...

Its been a while since I posted so I thought I would say a few words !

Yesterday I did alot of knitting but I also did alot of "frogging" so it seems that after all that work I really did not get anything done !
I started a pattern for a capelet that Mary made.. Marys capelet/poncho is Beautiful.....

Mine????? Well... I did several rows of it and then decided to see if the size was how I wanted it to go over my head... Yea .. It went over my head ok but looking in the mirror... I did not like that color on me... then I thought that if I made it for one of my Daughters... The color would not look good on them either... So " I "Frogged" it... ripp it ripp it....

Then I decided to do a dress that I wanted to make for a LONG time for a Baby...

Well llllllllllllllll...... In the midst of knitting it My Daughter called and said she thinks that I should make the bigger size.... Soooooooooooooooo...
Yup... You Guessed it..... " Ripp it...Ripp it !!!! AGAIN !!!

When I told Bob what I did all day he said that he didn't think I needed all that " Practice" *Grin*

Anyway..... I am now doing the Dress again and I have a sleeve and a hat to finish on those two Baby Boy Gifts that I was making... and two sleeves to make on another baby sweater ...

Sweater Start


I spend all day yesterday going thru my stash because my friend.... " well, actually she is My Nieces friend who has become "My Adopted Niece"... asked me to make 2 Boys sweaters for gifts that she needs....... :)

Oh Sure.. That sounds like an easy task but I am so picky about what I make...
Bob says.." I can't believe you are so choosy about the yarns... You spent an entire afternoon looking at your yarn !!!"...

yea .. so... " Whats the point here , is there something Wrong with that ??" :)
Well.. What does he think ???? If I am going to make something I want it to be really nice or I wouldn't make it....Right??
Oh Boy... They just don't get it. Do they??

I dragged out ALL my stash and went through each bin until I was satisfied with my choices....
I ALMOST went out and bought more yarn but I have more yarn than the local LYS here in Cocoa has !!! And besides didn't I say I was not buying any more YARN.... LOL
So after much searching and deliberation and choosing of colors... I decided on the cutest little sweater for the First Gift !!!

I will finish All of my WIPS that I have hidden all over the place so that I can have a Fresh start...

I will Not buy anymore YARN until I use up my stash which has taken over my house!

I will not start any projects that I do not plan on finishing in the Year "06..

I will resist All temptation when driving past a Yarn shop... No matter How hard my car trys to stear me into the shops parking lot.. I promise Not To Stop..

When walking through Walmart and that darn yarn flys into my cart... I will toss it back on its shelf.. Right where it Belongs...

Knitting Books and Patterns also have a way of working themselves into my house....
Am I going to knit ALL those wonderful items that I have so carefully picked out which I just HAVE to Make ??? Oh SURE I will, right! You are going to do all of your patterns too, aren't you????

I promise to Keep Going to Yarnacholics on a daily basis !!!

So... Now My Sweater Rush is over and its time to do some Fun Knitting... yippee!!!!

The Grandkids Loved their sweater and said that they all fit... So Thats A " Good Thing"....

Now I am working on some baby Sweaters again... That is my Very Favorite thing to knit... I like them because they are small and get done quickly and I love to try different ideas out with them..
I am working on one now that was pretty frustraiting at first because it was such tedious knitting... sort of fairisle... But now I am to the easier part.
I'm doing a Lattice stitch on it and its an interesting pattern... I'll wait a while until I get most of it done before I post a photo... OK :)
Then there are a million other projects floating around in my Head that I just HAVE to start soon...

Well.. Going to get some of my knitting done now... ...

Hummmmmmmmmm...Lets see now....... Its Less Than 12 Months until CHRISTMAS....

Whew !.................. I did it !! I finished the last minute Sweaters for Allie and Natalie....
I did one a little smaller than the other but when I got finished they both look almost the same size... Well.. Thats OK.. They will fit!
They are very nice "snuggly" sweaters and will be good for them to where in Buffalo where they live...

I got to the Post Office and mailed them off this morning so they will probably get them in time for Christmas :)
So... Now .. Let me see... What am I going to start making today????

I also finished the book that I was reading... " Dance With Me" by Luanne Rice....
My Friend " Calliope" introduced me to this author and this is the second one of her books that I have finished.. She is a very similar author to Nora Roberts... Nice stories but some you need a pile of tissues next to you when you are reading.... :)

One Button Cardigan


This I made for Allie .. My Ten year Old Grandaughter. I followed the directions for the Small size in the Magazine and I think it will be just right for her.
I have just started another one for Natalie.. which I will make just a little bit smaller..
The one button in the front is a realy pretty flower but you can not see it in the photo.. Maybe I'll take a quick picture of it ..
As in the Magazine I made this sweater out of Homespun which I happen to think is so soft and cozy!
