Ruby Reds

Ruby Reds Posted by Picasa

Ohhhhhhhhh.... I LOVE those RUBY REDS !!!!!!

These have got to be the cutest little shoes I have ever seen ......
They are done with red Glitterspun and I found the sweetest little antique glasslike buttons for them..
The buttons shine so much that they look like tiny diamonds .........awwwwwwwwww !!!!!!

I had so much FUN making these tiny little shoes.... I just might have to make some other ones in different colors!!!!

Now I am off to making a Little Lady Hat to go with then...

Well.. After all...
A Little Lady is not properly dressed if her Hat and Shoes don't match, Right !! :)

I would like to THANK Mandy for Sharing her Pattern for these Adorable Shoes !
Thanks Mandy!

Boys Sets

Boys Sets Posted by Picasa

The matching Scarves are finished to complete the Buffalo Boys Sets!

One is done in a Fishermans Rib with a crochet edge at the ends...

The other is done with a Garter Stitch Border at The Ends and then a Knit2- slip 2 stitch pattern.

One is about 35 inches and the other is about 30 inches.

I don't like to make the Kids Scarves too long because as a " GRANDMA" I always "worry" about them getting the scarves caught on something if it is too long... I know.. I know.... But thats what grandmas are for... To Worry, right :)

Lily Chin

Lily Chin Posted by Picasa

Here we are at The Big Apple with Our Knitting Pal....Lily Chin..........

I have my hair in a pony tail so I look like I don't have any..... yikes.. Is That " ME"... LOL

Thats Dorethea and I with Lily... Gosh.... Lily is such a nice person....I had to bend down a bit because she is very petite....

The Knit - Crochet Out at Union Square was great... We walked and walked and browsed and browsed... There were knitting and crocheting demos and there were other knitting designers there.. Like Nicky Epstein who was knitting one of her beautiful flowers....
Her Books ......Knitting on The Edge and Off The Edge are Great Books for doing your own designing.....

I also met up with Linda and Jan from the knitlist . They are the authors of the book...
"The Knitting Way" .... I found them in the crowd by seeing their Tote Bag with the book name on it... :)
It was nice to meet ya Linda and Jan... :)

There were alot of crochet and knitting magazines and patterns and information being given away.. They gave away Clover Bamboo Knitting needles also! :)
Dorethea and I had a BIG Bag FULL of things to take home with us... And " YES" The darn bag was pretty heavy to carry around.... Boy......... what we do for Freebies !!!!! he he

We had a quick Lunch at Mac Donalds...... mostly it was good to sit our Butts down and take a load off our aching feet!!!!

Then we took a walk to a Knit Shop which was very crowded and very expensive... needless to say.. " We did not make any big purchases there" :)

Then we walked back to Union Square and stopped at Bon'aton??? or something like that.. I forget the name of the place... Anywayit was another pit stop andthere we had some tea and some YUMMY scones!!!!

We then looked around some more.. Watched the Scarf contest ( Some really Pretty and Cute Scarves were entered)
and we also watched The Fashion Show.....
.......Which was a Doggie Fashion Show..... each little and big canine marched around in their fancy knitwear.... LOL.. hummmmm.... I forget Who was The Best Dressed... :)

After all those hours that we put in pouncing on our OWN "puppies"....
It was time to " Hail a Cab" back to Penn Station...
We enjoyed the ride home and did our own little demonstration of knitting with the Free needles that we got ....

So Now Is The Time For This Tired Knitter ...............To Put her feet up on the couch and look thru all this Knitting and Crocheting Literature that I Lugged around all afternoon!!!

Nitey Nite!!!! See you all Tomorrow !!

Boys Hats Posted by Picasa

For The Boys

Lets Hear it For The Boys !!!!!

Well.. Now the Boys have their Hats finished also...

I tried to " jazz" them up a little and threw in some colors......

Will and Thomas live in Buffalo and naturally they are Buffalo Bill Fans... So these were great colors for the hats !!!

It gave me a chance to use some yarn that has been in My Stash since when Woolworths went out of Business... WOW.. How MANY years has that been??? All I can remamber is that I paid 25 cents a skein ...when they were closing out... and that was a good size skein of Red Heart...

Guess it is about time I started using it...*grin*

I remember filling a huge bag full of yarn at the time and there was a lady who was also shopping and she said to me.. " Make sure you get the same Dye Lot"....
Ha !... Well Heck Lady............ Who Cares... For 25 cents I'll take whatever " Dye Lot" it is.....LOL

Friday

All Right.. So its Friday again, huh ? What happened to Wen. and Thursday???
Did I sleep them away or something???
I just can not believe how the days just Fly by...
Everyone says.. " Wait till you get older"... ha !!! How much older do I have to be ???
If they go any faster.. I might as well just stay in bed...LOL

Anyway.. I have no photos to show you today :(
.. I did finish Wills hat and I am almost done with Thomas'..
While I was at it.. I also made one for my neighbors little boy.. :)
He's such a cute kid.... He will be 2 in January... :) He always comes to the fence in the yard and " talks".. One of these days we will know what he is "saying".....

Today I was doing laundry in the laundromat and the gal that owns the place was admiring the hat I was working on.... She liked the changes in the colors that I was doing....
From that we got to talking about Children.. Grandchildren and Families....
We had a Nice " chat".
Then when I was leaving I called to her.." By now".. (which I always do when I leave)
This time she said " Thank you .............. Bye..... MY FRIEND"
See How knitting just makes people " Friends" :)

Well... Bye for Now " My Friends".. Its time to "say.. " Goodnight"

Making The Hat

Pick Up Stitches Posted by Picasa

For those of you who never made what I call a "Flap Hat" before I thought I would show you the steps...
First you make the ear flaps seperately.....
Then with your circular needle.. you cast on stitches for the back of the hat....
Then you pick up the required amount of stitches on the ear flap,
which in this case is 23 stitches....
Then you cast on stitches for the front of the hat..
For this I do the knit cast on
http://www.stitchguide.com/stitches/knitting/stitch_pages/kn_cast_on.html

Then you pick up 23 stitches on the other ear flap...

My Model :) Posted by Picasa

This is My Model for the Hat & Scarf....
He doesn't look so "cold" here .. :)

Hat & Scarf Posted by Picasa

Since My Grandchildren live eight hours away in Buffalo I had to find a model for my hat and scarf... :)
He looks a bit pale here so I wanted to be sure and tell you that he is made of stone...
But Doesn't he look like he is Cold ????

Anyway.. I love the way the hat came out..
This one is for My grandaughter Natalie and it matches the scarf.. as you can see...
The scarf , you already know is from Scarf Style .....
The hat I chose is from a Little Vogue On The Go Book http://www.theyarnco.com/book_display/9
Its a great little book that I borrowed from the Library !
Funny thing is the Scarf is from a Pam Allen Book and the hat that I picked is also from Pam Allen... Guess I like her Style :)

I just started another hat and scarf for My Grandaughter Allie.. This one has one different color choice in it... That way they can tell them apart..
I started her hat in a size large... Natalies Hat is a Small..
Both are supposed to be Ladies hats but I know they will fit them..
Natalie is Six and Allie is Ten..
Later I will post some photos of the beginning of the hat so you can see how it
" comes together"..

OK... Its a nice cool morning so I think I will take a fast trip to TJ Max and see if I find something to wear to My Nieces Wedding in a few weeks...
Yesterday I found a great pair of shoes to wear.. But I think I need something other than just Shoes to wear...!!!! LOL..

See ya all Later !!!! Happy Knitting !!!

Scarf In Progress Posted by Picasa

So.... With a Little Help from My Friends...
I finally got this scarf pattern working ...
It is the Chevron Scarf from Scarf Style ..... Click here: Amazon.com: Books: Scarf Style : Innovative to Traditional, 31 Inspirational Styles to Knit and Crochet

For some reason I had quite a time getting the pattern to work out but thanks to Lori from one of my Groups..... I got it!!!!
So What was wrong with the directions? ...you ask !
Absolutely nothing....
Lori wrote the same directions for me but in her own words and all of a sudden.. It worked !!!

I don't know..... Sometimes I get those "confusing" directions which are not really confusing except to me !!!
I am using all the nice bright colors from Simply Soft and for the first time I am using those Lovely "Lanturn Moon " needles that my Daughter April bought me for my Birthday...
VERY nice and Smoothe................!!!!!

Larger View :) Posted by Picasa

I just thought I would send a larger photo because you could not really see the sweater clearly!

I forgot to mention where I got the pattern from...
It is in one of My Favorite sweater books... http://www.theknitter.com/kidtogrowswe.html
Seamless Sweaters From Kids To Grown- Ups by Mary Rich Goodwin...
I think this was one of the first knitting books I bought when I started knitting about 5 years ago...
There are basically No seams to sew when you are finished...
Which is a real " PLUS" for me.. I hate sewing seams!

Second Scarf Yarn Posted by Picasa

COLORS ... COLORS ..... LOVE those Bright...Bright colors........ :)

This is going to be a scarf from the same Book...
On page 33 is the scarf I will be making for my Grandaughters... The Zigzag Scarf..
It is a Debbie Bliss Pattern and I have changed the colors to....
purple.... lime.... bright pink....orange....yellow... and teal.....

If you like to make different scarves I highly recommend this book.. "Scarf Style by Pam Allen"

Scarf Yarn Posted by Picasa

I spend the better part of the afternoon today trying to pick and choose the right yarn colors for two scarves that I want to make...
This is going to be a scarf from the book Scarf Stlye ( which is a great scarf book)
For those of you who have this book...I am going to do the scarf on page 37...
It is a Nicky Epstein scarf and it has alot of "colors" in the graph...
I hope the colors that I chose will work out.
The yarn is from Katia and it is a 50% wool / 50% acrylic and it is VERY soft !!!

To me that is a very important part of choosing yarn for scarves... The feel should be nice and soft and cozy to wrap around you neck...

My Feathered Friends Posted by Picasa
Had a visit from my feathered friends today looking for a snack !
MaMa is waiting while the kids fill their beaks....

The kids are still grey now .. as they get bigger their feathers turn white...

Then the parents give them "flying" lessons and that is a FUN thing to watch...
You can hear the "woosh..woosh" of their large wings when they "flap" their way along !!!

As the Season changes and the leaves fall from the trees and the wings of the Swans turn White .................
Then I know its time for me and Hubby to "Flap Our Wings" and head for Florida... Yippee !!!!
