Juliet Finished

I finally put the loops and buttons on My Juliet and I closed it in the front instead of open like the pattern. Now it looks more " Finished "
This is for Allie My 13 year old GD and I did the small in a worsted weight instead of a bulky.. As I said in an earlier post... I also had to increase the armhole ..

You can not see it too well but there are cute little Victorian Girls in it...

I stippled it all over ( I think thats what you call it) Now that was the Fun part... :)
I was very excited when I finished it because it really feels like a REAL Quilt... :) uh hum.. * A Little Pat on My Back*

Projects May 2008

I didn't want you to think I was slacking up on my knitting so I took some pics of some of the projects I am working on... Last week I also quilted my quilt together.. I just have to sew the binding over and then I will post it !!!

This Pink and White Sweater is a Sirdar Pattern from an all white sweater but I had to give it some "zip" so I used Two Colors... Its also Pretty in the white but I got bored making white sweaters lately!
This will be for Paige ( My 4and 1/2 Yr Old GD)

This is a Blanket in Light Sage that I started for My Daughter Terrys New Baby which is due the end of this Month... As soon as Baby arrives ..Then I will get busy knitting for a Boy or Girl!!!

This is The Merry Cardigan.. A small version of the Arwen Cardigan... The Cables take a while to do but I love the look of it... It has a hood and that also has the cables around it!

The Irish Hiking Scarf which I feel like I have had on needles Forever... I do a little and then move on to another project... Hummmmmmm.... Do you think I have A.D.D. ????
Hopefully this will be finished for one of this years Christmas Gifts... So thats a Good Thing... I hve a Christmas Gift going.... I already finished one Alpaca Scarf for Christmas... Woopee... I am started on My Gift Giving!!!

Juliet

This is "Juliet".. The Pattern's discussions are in Ravelry.....
It is an adult vest like top which I was making downsized for my 13 year old GD.... I still have to do the loops and the buttons...
I used a worsted weight instead of bulky because I didn't want it to be Bulky :)
Now that I tried it on I am thinking that it is way to small for her.. Me thinks I downsized too much!!! Duh !!!!
So now I need a smaller girl for it to fit.... It might fit my 8 year old GD but I am not sure if the sleeve hole is big enough... It was snug on my arms but them I have fat Grandma arms so maybe this is all just my figuring and maybe its all wrong... I'll make the button loops and sew on the buttons and just send it off to Buffalo... I has to fit one of my three Grandaughters... Right!!!

GOOD READING !!!!!
I 'm back to doing some reading again... It seems that it goes in spirts... I'll read books one after the other and then all of a sudden I stop reading for a while...
Well... I am Happy to Report that I finished reading The Kite Runner....The Kitchen Gods Wife by Amy Tan and Not A Sparrow Falls...and another one of which I have forgotten the name already!!!!
They were all very different books .. But the one that I read the fastest and really enjoyed was Not A Sparrow Falls by Linda Nichols... While reading this book I could not wait to read more every day..
It was like watching a movie to me... And the end made me bring out the box of tissues but it was a good ending!!! Give it a try if you see the book...

I also picked up The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards which I will start right away because I saw last night that the Movie is coming on TV in a few weeks... So I want to read the book first!!!!I think that the books are always better than the Movie.. Don't ya think???
Memoirs of A Geisha by Arther Golden... I started reading this one in the car today after I bought it while waiting for Hubby and it caught my interest right away.. But I have to read the other one first !!!!
And Jodi Picoult... The Pact.... She is a very interesting writer so I'm sure this one will be good also...
I read Vanished by her and it was good !!!
P.S. The best part is that I but all my Books at the Thrift Stores for 50 cents or 1.00 !!!!
I prefer to buy them because when I take them out of the Library.. I feel "Pressured" to hurry up and read it....and How can you resit such buys.. Then I always pass the Book on to someone else!!!!

Today was " SISTERS" Day .... My Sister Janie lives two hours west from Donna and Donna lives two hours North of me..... So I told them both to come over so we could all get together.. (Which we never seem to have time to do)... They came to me today and we had a great visit.. We went to Port Canaveral and had a Delicious lunch sitting outdoors at a Restaurant on the water...
After chatting through lunch and stuffing ourselves we went to Jetty Park and had a nice warm sunny walk out on the Pier...
We then came back to my Condo on Cocoa Beach and sat on the Balcony having tea and dessert!!!

My Sister Janie brought be a Beautiful plant with pretty little dark pink and white flowers... Appropriately the name of the Flower is Star SISTERS !!!! She gave us both a plant.... She always seems to find the perfect gift for the occasion !! Thank You so much Janie !!! :)
We should make this a yearly tradition!!!.. " Sisters Day"

P.S. Thats "Me" in the middle.. I'm The Baby in The Family !!!
Gee Wiz... We could have given Donna seat!!! :)

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

So Here is The Sweater that I have been designing!!! I am very pleased with the results of my endeavor.. :)
The Yarn is Welcomme... La Serpentine... It was knit on a size #3 Needle ..
The yarn is a Fine Cotton...
It is a light pink color with grey spots here and there in the yarn...I was anxious to knit it up as see how it looked in the knitted fabric..
The Sweater is about a 12 -18 Months size...
The Back is the same as the front except without the button bands...
This was a Great Experience for me in Designing from Scratch..
Before you ask.... No... I did not write down all the directions.. I tried to do it as I went along but it just got crazy... I will try VERY hard the next time to write better notes!!! :)

This is a Little Sweater that I am in the process of designing myself...
So far I am liking the outcome... It is a Light cotton in pink and it has spots of grey in it...
I started this mostly because I wanted to see how the yarn knitted up and then I just sort of went with the flow in my head...LOL....
I don't think you can see in this photo but it has a bell bottom edge and the bodice is done in a Lattice Pattern.... I am working on the front now.. It will be a Cardigan and if all goes well it should work out to be about a 12 to 18 Month size... Which will just happen to be about Samanthas size when I get done :)

I am also dabbling in some "quilting" ... I started out wanting to do a "SIMPLE" quilt with just different squares... Then I needed some colored squares.... Then I added more colors.... Then I liked the squares in " Frames".... Then I tried it with "sashing" and without "sashing".... Then I tried it with little colored corners or without the colored corners..... yatta yatta yatta....
Now My Simple and Fast Little Quilt has become a Major Project!!! Oh Dear.. Whats a Crafter do do????
MORE CRAFTS.. I Guess !!!
I also bought a cute Brand New cross stitch Baby Quilt that I just had to find in a second hand store... So I have visions of doing some needlework.... Plus I already have some cross stitch that I just HAVE to do some more work on...
I am Thinking that maybe I can work out some sort of Craft Schedule.. Like Monday ( Needlework)... Wednesday Knitting.. Thats when our Knit Group Gathers).. and Friday ( Sewing)...
Then the other days are open to whichever project I want to work on... At least then I will get moving on some of those neglected crafts... Hum... Sounds like Good Plan, Right???

Now.. Who said I was an Obsessive Knitter ???
I have always loved the colors of the tiles in Paneras Ladies Room and want to knit a sweater with the same colors...Last week I took my camera into the room and snapped a few photos...
At the same time I was chuckling about what the Lady in the stall next to me must have been thinking when she kept seeing the flashes going off... LOL.. I got out of there before she came out and saw who it was... <>The greens didn't show up too well but they sort of a light and dark sage color...

China and Booties Update...
April is still waiting for Our "Penny" from China... It seems that China has delayed the adoptions and we are not expecting Penny untill 2009..
April got word that it is very Cold in China now and the babies could use those booties to keep warm... So April got them all packed and bought a bunch of Baby Hats .. Some Tylenol infant drops, tylenol flu medicine and some vick rub and added them to the Package... It was $63.00 to mail it to China but she wanted the Babies to have now and not to wait until she can go there...
She mailed them all to the Orphanage that she thought was the coldest and needed them the most..... We hope this makes the babies a litttle more comfortable .. I'm certain they will feel all the love you ladies put into making all those booties... I think April said there were about 130 of them...
Thank You All and Lets Pray that "Penny" gets here as soon as possible!!!

Time for a little Update on these projects I guess...
This is the Back of the sweater and I started the Front last night....

The Laceweight Scarf is coming along slowly...There is a "goof" I think right in the middle , ya see it ???
Maybe when I block it you won't be able to see it ??? Maybe ????

The Little Yellow Sweater was restarted all over because the gauge was not working out but mostly the bottom kept rolling up... I ended up starting over in a lighter weight yarn and I did a garter bottom instead of what the pattern called for... Now I am much Happier with the hem... :)

The New Years New Projects!!!
These are projects that I just started.. oh Sure.. I have plenty of OTHER things on my needles but when you have as many needles as I do.. You can even start MORE projects!!! :) Needle Stash.. Well.. At least they don't take up as much room as My Yarn Stash does !!!
So The top photo is a Sweater that I am doing for Paige.. My four year old Grandaughter...I am using Plymouth Encolr Colorspun in DK weight in a pink and grey colorway...This actually was the yarn I swapped My Encore Blue Colorway for... :)
It is a Lacy Sweater from a Swedish Company.. Almedahls ...I think is the name...I could not find the yarn anywhere on line so I am using the DK and hope that its the right gauge.. I think its ok by the size of it right now... So I'll keep on going!!! I have five skeins of it and I am also asuming that it will be enough but we know How that goes Sometimes !!!

The second photo is an Old Shale Scarf pattern which I got on line... I was looking for something to make with the Knit Picks Alpaca Cloud Laceweight yarn that I bough last Winter... So Here she is at the Beginning of Herself... Miss Old Shale !! :)

The Third Photo is
The Merry Cardigan ( Baby Arwen) Sweater .. The origional pattern is in and Interweave Knits Magazine but .. Winter 2006... This is a Childs version that I found on line...I am using PatonsTrue North DK Yarn which I bought last year at Smileys.... Boy.. I am so excited about finally using some of this yarn !!!!

"Ain"t She Perty!!!!"
Finished My Swallowtail Shawl last night and here she is washed and being Blocked...
This is my First Real Lacy Big Project and The First time Blocking... I am very Pleased at how it came out and proud of myself that I stuck it out even in the hard times of lace knitting... Thanks to those lifelines that saved the whole Shawl... They really came in handy a few times !!!
The yarn is by Katia and it is a wool/merino...
This should be a great cozy lightweight shawl to wrap myself up in with all the air conditioning down here in Florida !!!
